Ares.

The way into this puzzle is to find the name of the son of Pasiphae, and the island on which he lived.  The son referred to is Asterion, more commonly known as the Minotaur, who wandered the labyrinth built to hold him on Crete.  Upon the island is a city and palace known as Phaistos in which a coded disk was discovered in 1908 (it’s authenticity is under dispute.)

North of Phaistos palace are the Psiloritis Mountains, consisting of five peaks.  One is highest, Mount Ida (called Timios Stavros, or sometimes simply called Psiloritis) in a cave on which the Greek god Zeus was said to have been born and reared.  At the highest peak of Mount Ida sits a stone chapel, the church of the Holy Cross.

The next part of the clue is where the hint was useful.  Using the Maps option in a Google browser looking at Mt. Ida, Crete, and clicking the terrain link and the photo link under ‘More’ will show the elevation markings, and photos taken by users.  The red letter ‘A’ will indicate the location of Mt. Ida on the map, according to Google.  The actual summit is located to the Southeast where the elevation markers are above 2,400 metres.  (The actual summit is 2,456 metres.)  There is a picture of the Church of the Holy Cross, among other photos here, which is titled in Greek Τίμιος Σταυρός (Ψηλορείτης).  The name of the photographer/lensman is Antonius Phobos.

Phobos is the name of the Greek god of fear, and is the son of Ares, the Greek god of warfare.
